The Academy's first school opened in Delano in 2009, serving students from across the Central Valley in grades 6-12. In 2016, we moved to our new, state-of-the-art college prep campus in Delano, and in the fall of 2017, added an elementary school in Delano and opened a second charter school in Lost Hills. In Delano, we serve over 2,000 students in grades TK-12, while in Lost Hills, we serve over 400 students in grades TK-10 and will grow to serve students through 12th grade over the next two years.

All students have access to technology, from hands-on-STEM learning for younger students in a fully equipped "maker's space" to one-to-one school-provided devices for all students. The Academy aims to provide every opportunity for our students that often is not found in public or charter schools, including the ability to graduate from high school with a free Associate Degree. Through a unique partnership with Bakersfield College, our students enroll in college classes starting in 9th grade and complete all their A-G requirements, in addition to their AS Degree requirements over the course of four years. In addition, all graduates are eligible to earn a four-year renewable college scholarship through the generous support of Lynda and Stewart Resnick.

Job Description

Ultimately, this will prepare generations of leaders in the Central Valley who are critical thinkers and life-long learners.

The Academy's first school opened in 2009 serving students of Delano and surrounding communities in grades 6-12. In seven years, the Academy has become the premier high school in the region, with 75% of its graduates attending 4 year universities. In 2017 we opened an elementary school at our Delano campus and launched a brand new charter school in Lost Hills. In this inaugural year for Lost Hills we enrolled approximately 100 students in grades PreK-2 and will rapidly grow to serve students through 12th grade.

The Role: The Pathway Academic Support Lead (PASL) will work in partnership with the pathway team and classroom teachers to help facilitate learning. The PASL works collaboratively with peers, teachers, and students with a deep commitment to our college-going mission. PASL holds students, team members, and self to high expectations and uphold the Academy's culture of excellence.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Shared Vision: Supports a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes
• Teaching and Learning: With guidance from and in collaboration with the pathway manager and school leadership, develop learning and intervention plans for pathway students in high school and college courses. Work closely with support teachers and professors to ensure student academic action plans are aligned with course learning outcomes. Guide and support Academic Support Tutors in executing learning and intervention plans.
• Data Informed Decision Making: Supports in tracking student progress by leading efforts to collect and input data into database systems on weekly basis. Communicates trends, points of concern, as well as points of achievement with key stakeholders.
• Coverage Support: Leads or facilitates the classroom in the absence of lead teacher and/or professor.
• Community Outreach: Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events
• Professional Expectations: Participate fully in all assigned staff meetings, professional developments and planning sessions. Prepare lessons and student exemplars as assigned. Participate fully in the coaching cycle (being observed, receiving real- time and post-lesson feedback, collaborate with coach on action steps, implement action steps, etc.) Support the general day-to-day activities of the school site
  
  Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principals, and Pathway Manager.

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Experience working with school aged children- preferred
  • Desire to pursue a teaching credential, preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker, preferred
  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.

      Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience, which includes generous performance bonuses.
