Job Description Job Description Description: Overview: As a
Trauma-Informed Counselor in our school-based behavioral health and
wellness program, you will play a vital role in supporting students
in any oe of the following settings: High School, Junior High
School, K-6 Grade school, by providing trauma-informed counseling
services. Focused on promoting mental well-being, you will work
within a multidisciplinary team to address the diverse needs of
students and contribute to creating a safe and supportive school
environment. Responsibilities: Trauma-Informed Counseling: Provide
individual and group counseling to students, utilizing
trauma-informed approaches to address a range of behavioral and
emotional concerns. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify
trauma-related symptoms, triggers, and coping mechanisms.
Collaborate with students to develop personalized treatment plans
that incorporate evidence-based interventions and promote
resilience. Mental Health Promotion: Develop and implement
psychoeducational workshops and activities aimed at promoting
mental health awareness, stress management, and self-care among
students. Collaborate with school staff to integrate
trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning initiatives
into the school curriculum and culture. Advocate for a supportive
and inclusive school environment that values diversity, equity, and
inclusion. Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with
parents/guardians, teachers, and other school personnel to
coordinate services and support systems for students with complex
needs. Provide consultation and training to school staff on
trauma-informed approaches, crisis intervention, and de-escalation
techniques. Serve as a resource and liaison between the school and
community mental health agencies to facilitate access to additional
support services as needed. Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain
accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes,
treatment plans, and outcome measures, in accordance with
professional standards and legal requirements. Participate in
ongoing evaluation and quality improvement efforts to assess the
effectiveness of counseling interventions and program outcomes.
Contribute to data collection and reporting efforts to measure the
impact of the behavioral health and wellness program on student
well-being and school climate. Requirements: Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a
related field. Bilingual Spanish, preferred. Licensure or
certification as a counselor or therapist (e.g., LPC, LCSW)
preferred. Specialized training or certification in trauma-informed
care, conflict resolution, or related areas strongly desired.
Experience providing counseling services to children and
adolescents in a school or mental health setting, with a focus on
trauma and resilience. Knowledge of evidence-based counseling
techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and behavior management
principles. Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competence to
work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and
experiences. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with
the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and engage
stakeholders in a collaborative problem-solving process.
