today!--Location: Tulare, CA--Job Responsibilities:Partner with the
Corporate Director of EHS to establish and execute an effective
portfolio of strategies and plans that promote employee awareness,
reduce/eliminate accidents, and risks, and actively monitor overall
safety performance in the organization to achieve excellence in
safety.Partner with site teams to implement company EHS programs;
engaging and involving all workers to understand and employ safety,
environmental, and security policies, and programs.Provide counsel
and floor support to site teams for safety, health, and
environmental questions, concerns, identification, and control of
hazards, recommending best/better practices.Lead the development of
risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying,
evaluating, and reducing hazards.Partner with the Corporate
Director of EHS on the prioritization or reduction of TF1 and TF2
incidents through appropriate education, training and rigorous
safety measures.Lead and manage the incident management and
near-miss program, investigating incidents, determining root
causes, and implementing corrective and preventative
actions.--Facilitate the safety committee team, providing guidance,
and overseeing safety inspections, meetings, and task list
follow-up.Responsible for the administration of the workers'
compensation program at the plant. Ensures completion of First
Reports of Injury and other records, maintains contact with
workers' compensation carrier, and ensure reports are submitted
timely. --Proactively conduct ergonomic assessments and make
recommendations to reduce risk. Collaborate with HR on
accommodations and return-to-work programs.Involved in chemical and
hazardous materials management programs (i.e., Process Safety
Management, Ammonia Refrigeration Management Program, etc.).Lead
environmental programs established within the organization to
include recycling of all office wastes per program guidelines, and
initiate power conservation techniques by turning off lights and
computers when not in use.Partner with the Corporate Director of
EHS to implement the environmental control strategies at the plant
(Wastewater Treatment, Particles Emission and Filtration, Dust
Hazard Control, Ammonia Systems Controls, and Process Safety
management. Serves as the primary point of contact for all Local,
State, and Federal EH&S-related inquiries.--Partner with the
Corporate EHS Director and legal teams during all environmental
investigations involving government agencies (EPA, DEC, OSHA,
etc.). Maintain, monitor, and report on all EHS performance
metrics.Create, audit, and implement necessary programs and
projects across the site in support of permitting & compliance
(i.e., OSHA, EPA, site/occupancy planning, chemical storage, noise
surveying, air quality, wastewater discharge, SPCC, etc.).--Own and
manage the plant safety audit program, ensuring audits are
performed as scheduled and data is captured, monitored, and used to
drive improvements.Partner with the Corporate Director of EHS to
develop, implement and maintain all EHS written
programs/policies/procedures (such as LOTO, Confined Space Entry,
etc.) Ensure all policies and procedures are fully deployed and
maintained within the plant.Responsible for EHS reporting which
includes performance against targets and goals, regulatory
reporting, corporate and customer required reporting. Share trends
and suggestions with the plant leadership team to proactively
correct and improve EHS performance when targets are not
met.Collaborate with site teams and HR on annual training plans and
required EHS training. Ensure training records are maintained and
per Company procedures.Manage, train, and develop EHS team members
through mentoring, coaching, and coordination of individual
development plans. Provide performance feedback on an ongoing
basis. Partner with HR on--employee relations issues.Required
Skills/Qualifications: ----Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety
and/or Environmental concentration preferred; an advanced degree is
a plus.5+ years of experience in safety and environmental
management is required. Food manufacturing experience is
preferred.5+ years of experience leading direct-reporting team
members.Proven track record of implementing effective EH&S
programs with positive results.Knowledge of appropriate federal,
state, county, city, and institutional regulations regarding food
processing operations.Strong knowledge of Workers' Compensation
claim management, including managing internal processes and
procedures.Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, Federal,
State, City, and County standards and regulations.--Good
problem-solving techniques including knowledge of LEAN and/or Six
Sigma methodologies.Strong ability to communicate across all levels
of an organization.Effective training techniques for diverse
audiences.Entrepreneurial and hands-on - committed to innovation,
continuous improvement, and moving beyond the norm.Self-starter,
takes initiative, a driver for change, personable and approachable,
collaborative, and passionate about their work.Ability to
prioritize and meet deadlines in a changing, complex
environment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications,
specifically Excel.------
